May sweeps ended this past week, and most network shows have aired their big season-ending cliffhangers. It seems that there are more and more shows that are killing off characters to keep the drama alive.
Sometimes, a show has little choice, because a popular actor who played the role dies and there is no one else who could possibly play the character convincingly. But then there are those deaths when the actor either decides to leave the series or the writers just get the itch to kill someone off. That is the kind of character death that led me to this week’s questions.
But first, Allison of "We’re All Mad Here" was first to play last week. Congratulations, Allison.
On to this week's question!
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Name seven TV character deaths that stand out as being shockers.
Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal and include the link in a comment. (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)
My answers:
1. Lt. Col. Henry Blake - M*A*S*H
2. Edith Bunker, All in the Family
3. James Evans, Good Times
4. Bobby Ewing, Dallas
5. Dr. Romano, ER
6. Alice Horton, Days of Our Lives
7. Alex Borgia, Law & Order
(I realize that two of the characters listed above ended up not actually dying, but their deaths were portrayed at the time as completely real and on the level; that’s why I include them on the list.)

There are days when I feel like taking a drive. Then there are days when I can go without even looking at a car. I haven’t decided which kind of day this is, yet, but it at least got me thinking about this week’s questions.
But before the questions, Gabrielle of "Questions of the Day" was first to play last week. Congratulations, Gabrielle!
Here are this week's "Saturday Six" questions. Either answer the questions in a comment here, or put the answers in an entry on your journal...but either way, leave a link to your journal so that everyone else can visit! To be counted as "first to play," you must be the first player to either answer the questions in a comment or to provide a complete link to the specific entry in your journal in which you answer the questions. A link to your journal in general cannot count. Enjoy!
1. What color car do you drive?
2. How many cars have you had in the past of this same color?
3. What does this particular color mean to you?
4. Take the quiz: What color ca should you drive?
5. Would you ever consider driving a car the color the quiz suggests?
6. Do you consider yourself the most-aggressive driver on the road, the least-aggressive, or something in between?
If you have a Reader's Choice question you'd like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I'd love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.MY ANSWERS:
1. Burgondy
2. Two out of four
3. Well, I like it because I'm a Gamecock and our colors were garnet and black. I wouldn't want a candy-apple red car, which seems to make me different from about 85% of men out there.
4. You Should Drive a Yellow Car

You're the type of driver who doesn't mind giving someone a break on the road.
You are eternally cheerful, and a little bad traffic is never going to effect your mood.
And while you're definitely laid back, a part of you also loves to be noticed.
You're a performer at heart. And you love showing off a few slick driving moves every now and then!
5. Nope.
6. In between. I’m generally a “live and let live” kind of guy, unless I get behind someone who’s going about twenty miles UNDER the speed limit.

When your question writer is on a diet, food is just going to pop up as a topic from time to time. This week, we’re going to belly up to the salad bar.
But first, Wil of "The Daily Snooze" was first to play last week. Congratulations, Wil. (And thanks to Liz for pointing out the adjusted release date for Apple’s Leopard upgrade.)
On to this week's question!
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Name seven ingredients you can’t resist at one of those Super Duper Mega Salad Bars.
Either answer the question in a comment or answer it in your journal and include the link in a comment. (To be considered "first to play," a link must be to the specific entry in which you answered the question.)
My answers:
1. Lettuce (obviously)
2. Cucumber
3. Bell Pepper
4. Shredded Cheddar
5. Diced Turkey
6. Ranch Dressing
7. Bacon Bits
(As you might have guessed, I haven’t had a salad like this since the diet began!)

Sorry for the lateness of the hour. I had a lot going on today, so this is the earliest I could get the questions posted.
But before the questions, though Angelika was first post a comment, it was Wil of "The Daily Snooze" who was first to play last week's edition, because Wil was the first to leave a complete link to the specific entry in which he answered the questions. Congratulations, Wil!

1. Do you order Girl Scout cookies each year? If so, how many boxes do you buy in an average year?
2. How long does it take you to finish off a box of cookies?
3. What's your favorite kind of cookie to dip in milk?
4. Take the quiz: What kind of cookie are you?
5. If you had to bake cookies for a party, what flavor would you bake?
6. What's the right way to eat an Oreo? As a whole, or by licking off the filling and then eating the two wafers individually?
If you have a Reader's Choice question you'd like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I'd love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.
MY ANSWERS:
1. I bought four boxes this year, but they didn’t arrive until after I realized how much weight I had gained and started the diet!
2. Normally within a month or so, but the boxes I ordered this year are still in the freezer...untouched!
3. Peanut Butter cookie
4. You Are a Fortune Cookie

You're a rather normal person, except that you have extraordinary luck in life.
People want to be around you (even when they're a little sick of you), in hopes of being lucky too!
5. Either peanut butter or chocolate chip. Nothing fancy.
6. The filling first then the cookie wafers (dipped in milk).

Later this month In October, the latest version of the Mac’s OS operating system will be released. It’s still OS X, pronounced “O-S-Ten,” for you non-Mac users out there, but Mac refers to each improvement over the previous version with an animal name: this new version will be known as “Leopard.” (Thanks, Liz, for alerting me to the revised release date.)
That bit of news became the subject of this week’s question.
But first, Cat of "Sweet Memes" was first to play last week even though she was the second one to leave a comment. (Though Jackie was first to drop the link for her blog, she didn’t give the link to the specific entry, which is required to get the “first to play” title.) So the kudos go to Cat!
On to this week's question!
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Name seven varieties of the same kind of animal (i.e., bears, dogs, birds, etc.) that you would use to differentiate improvements of the next version of the Mac OS system.

My answers: using Birds

3. Osprey
4. Harrier
5. Raptor
6. Hawk

My parents came down to Charleston for the day to visit. That’s why these are a little late today. Last night, I tinkered with the look of this blog: I hope you like the new design.
But first, it was Antonette of "Jottings From Jersey" who was first to play last week's edition. Congratulations, Antonette!

1. How often do you dream while you’re sleeping?
2. What percentage of dreams do you actually remember details from the next morning?
3. What is the strangest location you have ever had a dream set in?
4. Take the quiz: What do your dreams mean?
5. Have you ever solved a real-life problem through something that happened in a dream?
6. Have you ever looked up elements of a dream you have had in a dream dictionary, and if so, did the definition make sense to your life at that time?
If you have a Reader's Choice question you'd like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I'd love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.MY ANSWERS:
1. I think I dream an average of about two nights a week or so, unless I’m having a period of insomnia, then I don’t dream much at all.
2. I generally remember some details from every dream. I remember lots of details from about a third of them.
3. Actually, I dreamed I was backstage at “The Price is Right” and there was some crisis and I had to help get the show on the air. Oddly enough, they were doing the show live -- which could never happen in real life -- and there was some kind of chase going on back stage of some villain from one of the soaps that tape across the hall. It was a very bizarre dream.
4. Your dreams seem to show that you're a bit disturbed... but nothing serious.
You may have a problem you're trying to work out in your sleep.
Your dreams tend to reflect your insecurities.
You have a very vivid imagination and a rich creative mind.
5. Not really, but I have given myself the chance to “sound off” to someone causing a problem that sort of led to a real resolution.
6. I have looked up things in a dream dictionary, but the definitions were so broad and general that I began to think that they could have applied to nearly anyone in almost any situation.

I was trying to figure out what kind of low-fat, low-calorie meal I might come up with for lunch today, when I checked to see what might be waiting in the freezer. Sometimes, something as simple as that can inspire a question.
But first, Larissa of "The Larissa Monologues" was first to play last week. Congratulations. Larissa!
On to this week's question!

My Answers:
1. Ice
2. Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
3. Salmon Fillets
4. Box of Baking Soda
5. Whole-Wheat Reduced Calorie Waffles
6. Boca Burger Patties
7. Green Giant Creamed Spinach

I took Zoey to the Charleston Dog Show this morning, and so I had dogs on the brain for this week’s set of questions.
But first, it was Otowi of "Otowi" who was first to play last week's edition. Congratulations!

1. Which makes a better pet: a dog or a cat, and why?
2. A close friend works with an animal rescue organization and tells you that they are desperate for a foster home for a good dog that there is no room for, and that it will be put down unless you can foster it for one week. Would you take the dog in?
3. If you could own any pet depicted as a character on a television show, which one would you choose?
4. Take the quiz: Common dog breed are you?
5. If you had the option to reverse places with your pet for a day or have your pet suddenly be able to talk like a human for a day, which would you choose and why?
6. You find you are being relocated to a ritzy neighborhood that has every amenity you would ever want except for one thing: no pets allowed. If you could live there rent/mortgage-free for three years, would you give up a pet to take advantage of the offer?
If you have a Reader's Choice question you'd like to see asked (and answered), send me an email! I'd love to be able to include it in a future edition of the Saturday Six.
MY ANSWERS:
Coming soon.
